As the years have passed, manufacturers across many industries--but especially the energy-intensive and hazardous ones--have realized the importance of Environment, Health & Safety initiatives, not just in meeting growing regulatory burdens, but in actually driving business value as well.
But while consciousness has no doubt been raised around EHS, the same cannot always be said for execution capabilities. While this particular operational shortfall is rooted in numerous factors, typically it's largely due to a pre-existing architecture of disparate and disconnected technology solutions and business processes for managing EHS initiatives. Besides lacking in scalability, having point solutions results in informational silos where the accuracy and timeliness of EHS information is compromised, and sub-optimal. Indeed, nearly 25% of manufacturers surveyed cite lack of collaboration as a major challenge to success.
According to our EHS research, however, leading EHS professionals are taking an integrated approach to EHS and sustainability management, with EHS solutions increasingly being deployed as part of a global suite of sustainability management software that connects and interoperates with other core enterprise applications.
