PowerPlex 2018 – Customer Experience and Momentum [MondayMusings]

Posted by Dan Jacob on Mon, Jun 11, 2018 @ 11:37 AM

A few weeks ago, I attended PowerPlex, Plex Systems’ (Plex) annual user conference. The event was held in the heart of Detroit, fitting given Plex’s strong presence in the automotive supply chain and discrete manufacturing. The PowerPlex event continued to grow this year, reflecting Plex’s strong year-over year growth in users (expanded usage in 294 existing customers) and customers (65 new customers). The strength of the Plex platform is a vital growth enabler and differentiator. The platform delivered 1.7 T transactions, 779M web service calls, and 99.9998% uptime in 2017, all with better than 500ms response rate on its multitenant Cloud platform.

OSIsoft User Conference 2018: Continued Evolution and Momentum [MondayMusings]

Posted by Matthew Littlefield on Mon, May 14, 2018 @ 11:13 AM

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the OSIsoft User Conference in San Francisco. While the event overlapped with the biggest industrial trade show in the world, Hannover Messe, there was no noticeable impact on OSIsoft User Conference’s attendance. The conference has continued to grow year over the years, and this year the event expanded beyond the regular hotel contract to spread across three separate hotels.

Hannover Messe 2018: Digital Transformation, Edge, Cloud, and More [MondayMusings]

Posted by Andrew Hughes on Mon, May 07, 2018 @ 12:34 PM

In 2013, the concept of Industrie 4.0 was first touted at Hannover Messe, the world’s largest, and most expensive manufacturing show for exhibitors, industrial automation, and equipment. In the ensuing five years, the halls have been full of hype, everything 4.0 and grand promises of what is coming soon. Thankfully, signals from the Messe this year are aimed at delivery on a commercial scale. The Industrie 4.0 messaging spread across dozens of stands has gone, and the stand holders seem to be ready to deliver the first stage of benefits that Digital Transformation promises.

SAP-Centric EAM and Supply Chain Event Reveals SAP’s Biggest Challenges and Opportunities are Ahead Among Manufacturers and Asset-Intensive Industries [MondayMusings]

Posted by Dan Miklovic on Mon, Apr 09, 2018 @ 01:15 PM

The 14th annual SAP-Centric EAM (enterprise asset management) event was held in Austin, Texas the week of March 26. This is the second year SAP elected to roll its supply chain event into the event that’s produced by ASUG and Eventful Group, and supported by SAP. The combined EAM/supply chain event resulted in a much more diverse set of attendees, an expanded program that reflected the interests of a much broader portion of people from corporate functions in business, and attracted a larger set of SAP partners and third-party solution providers than past events. The Americas’ SAP Users Group (ASUG) drives the program content as well. The event has a very high percentage of SAP user-delivered content, blended with a mix of SAP strategic leadership vision delivery as well as product roadmap previews and technical user group lab environment workshops and roundtables. This event exposes SAP's greatest strengths and the significant challenges it faces going forward in the SAP user community.

Infor Innovation Summit Lives Up to Its Name, Validates Digital Transformation is a Necessity [MondayMusings]

Posted by Dan Miklovic on Mon, Mar 26, 2018 @ 12:50 PM

Infor, an enterprise software company, brought together the analyst community at its New York headquarters for another Innovation Summit to share updates on progress and plans for its product set. The Infor senior leadership team, backed by several customers, walked analysts through the entire product portfolio. Often perceived as “the other ERP company,” in the shadow of SAP and Oracle, Infor deserves more credit for innovation and adoption of future trends and technology. Infor was the first of the major enterprise application players to embrace Cloud and user experience, and was a very early proponent of analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). Much of the progress Infor made has been in industries outside of manufacturing like healthcare, transportation, retail, and in standard business functions such as human capital management (HCM). Manufacturing and asset-intensive industries should take note as they will benefit from the advances the software vendor is bringing to the market, in addition to all the Cloud capabilities directly associated with manufacturing in relevant CloudSuites. The Innovation Summit featured several end-users who made it clear they see Digital Transformation as their only option.
